MULCHING

Mulching has many benefits that are perfect for the commercial and industrial community.  It reduces water usage, holds the moisture which is beneficial to your plants and helps control weeds, all while sharpening the appearance of our beds.

Mulch – How Much Do You Need?

For our commercial applications we generally chose to go the bulk route and charge out on a square foot price. This includes the price of the mulch, landscape fabric, delivery and installation cost. When installing, the optimum depth depends on the type of mulch being used, the plant type and the soil condition. The general rule of thumb is to install approximately 2-4 inches.

How Often Should Mulch be Applied?

Mulching your planting beds can have a lot of benefits. One of the key benefits is that mulch decomposes into the soil adding nutrients. This is great for the plants and soil, but it means that eventually you will need to replace your mulch. At most, you will need to replace your mulch every couple of years.

Why Use Mulch in Commercial Planting Beds?

• It prevents weeds and makes weeds that do sprout easier to pick, keeping a well maintained look.

• It prevents soil compaction – a process in which stress is applied to soil causing densification as air is displaced from the pores between the soil grains.
